What is Logdate?
Logdate is a small utility program that will rename your daily log files so
that they can be archived using the Dos ren command.
Logdate is extremely simple to use. At any point you can type logdate without
any command line parameters to get a help screen. To use logdate simply use
this command line (adjusted for your system of course):
logdate c:\ra\ra.log ra
^^^ ^^^^^ ^^
| | |
| | - First two letters of the new file name
| |
| |- Full path and file name of the log to rename
|
|- The logdate program of course
logdate will always rename the file to ??mmddyy.log where ?? is the two
letters you supply on the command line. In this manner it can be used on
any log extension to rename for safe keeping by date.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Logdate is released into the Public Domain. What does this mean? Simply put
you are free to use this program for as long as you like for FREE. There is
no registration to use this program.
If you like this program I do ask that you send me a net mail message to my
primary support BBS (and beta test site :-)). If you don't like this program
then tell me that also. If you have any ideas for new programs then please
let me know and give me a NetMail address to get back to you with.
